Influencer Tilly Lockey launches pop career with help from Bristol bionics firm Open Bionics
Influencer Tilly Lockey – who wears two bionic arms manufactured by Bristol-based Open Bionics after losing both arms to meningitis when she was a baby – is on her way to pop stardom.
17-year-old Tilly has amassed a global social media audience close to 400k followers, sharing what life is like living as a cyborg teen with a limb difference.
The single Porcelain, an up-beat bionic pop soundtrack touches on Tilly’s experience of having social media fame and the downfalls that come with it.

"Porcelain is about being human and having feelings of being fragile and broken at times; yet reminds us that no matter what, or who you’re up against, you can always pick yourself back up again and come back stronger.” commented the independent artist, from Consett, County Durham.
No stranger to mass audiences online and off, Tilly made headlines back in 2019 when producers of blockbuster movie Alita: Battle Angel gifted Tilly two custom-built bionic arms made by Open Bionics.
Since her red carpet moment, Tilly has gone on to win CBBC’s talent show Got What it Takes 2021, and has performed in front of over 20,000 people on BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend Main Stage, opening the Festival ahead of Ed Sheeran. More recently, Tilly has walked the catwalks at London Fashion Week and MAC Cosmetics.

Using her bionic arms, Tilly has been able to hold a microphone, work in the studio, and independently create content.
“We’re thrilled to see Tilly launch her debut single. Tilly went from being told she’d never walk again, to walking London Fashion Week runways. We can only imagine where her singing talent will take her,” said Samantha Payne, MBE, COO, co-founder of Open Bionics.
Porcelain is out on all major streaming/download platforms.
