The Horizon Europe Guarantee fund, delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), has now awarded more than £1 billion to UK-based individuals and businesses.
This funding enables recipients to participate in projects with Horizon Europe, the EU’s flagship programme for research and innovation. It supports those who achieve success in Horizon Europe competitions, but face delays in EU funding.
The Horizon Europe Guarantee fund has previously helped wind propulsion company Anemoi, EV manufacturer Tevva, Rolls-Royce and its clean aviation projects, and University of Warwick researcher David Armstrong, whose work explores planets beyond our solar system.
UKRI delivers the scheme on behalf of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
Professor Christopher Smith, International Champion for UKRI, said: “This is an important milestone for UKRI and the UK. The guarantee mitigates the challenges faced by our research and innovation communities during the delay to association by ensuring UK expertise is still able to participate.
“As a result, thousands of projects tackling vital research are going ahead, and researchers and businesses in other countries are continuing to build Horizon Europe consortia with UK-based partners.”
