Communications specialist Sine Qua Non (SQN) has appointed Daniel McLaren in the newly established role of head of digital, as the agency accelerates its digital and social media capability to meet growing demand.

Founded in 2001, SQN has expanded its offering and presence over the past twelve months with a renewed focus on the automotive, sport and technology sectors from offices in Henley-on-Thames and Derby. With a proven track record of delivering innovative, content-led campaigns, that create a real impact, either as part of a sponsorship programme or with a broader communications objective, SQN has experienced strong growth recently both in the UK and internationally.

Since 2016, SQN has developed an in-house creative studio, allowing the agency to integrate graphic design and videography services into its established sponsorship, marketing, communications and PR services.

The appointment of McLaren will see SQN strengthen its capabilities in the digital space while exploring new opportunities for existing and prospective clients.

McLaren’s agency experience has covered Carat, We Are Social, Cast Digital, Pulse Innovations and AMVBBDO, in addition to his development of the Digital Sport brand, recently acquired by Snack Media.

“We are delighted that Dan has joined the growing SQN team in the newly established Head of Digital role, working closely alongside our senior management, account and creative services teams,” said SQN CEO Claire Ritchie-Tomkins. “We have long supported our clients to develop their social channels and digital offerings. As we continue to evolve our business, we recognise the need to bring on board a specialist to take our services to the next level. I’m excited to see what Dan’s experience will bring to the next chapter of Sine Qua Non.”

McLaren said: “I have been aware of SQN for many years; our paths have crossed numerous times through my work at Digital Sport. I am honoured to join the team as Head of Digital and to lead the continued development of the agency’s digital portfolio. With an impressive pedigree and client portfolio, it is clear that I am joining a knowledgeable, resilient and thriving agency.”

SQN’s current client roster includes Tata Communications, Hyundai Motorsport, Yale Materials Handling, Toyota Motor Europe, Cosworth, Henley Royal Regatta and XMedius.
