Centre for Sustainable and Explainable Fintech launched by Surrey University
University of Surrey, have launched a Centre for Sustainable and Explainable Fintech.
Located at the Surrey Research Park, the centre will focus on the financial technology revolution. In launching SAEF the University has stated its aim to make the UK home of the World's leading Fintech ecosystem.
Professor Steve Wood, Dean of Surrey Business School, added: “The launch of the Surrey Business School Centre for Sustainable and Explainable Fintech (SAEF) is timely and complements the inter-disciplinary research focus within the School that includes banking, financial regulation, valuation, digital economy, entrepreneurship and data analytics.”
Fintech literacy, said SAEF Director, Prof Bonnie Buchanan; "Can help the UK address global challenges such as wealth inequality, biodiversity, trust in institutions and regulation."
It is, she stated: "A matter of fairness."

The centre will study the impact of fintech, pecuniary and ethically, on financial systems.
Prof Buchanan explained: “SAEF will examine not only the transformation in financial services that fintech has introduced, but also the appropriate regulations and ethical use of fintech to maintain a stable financial system.
“We want to share our knowledge, research and expertise because everyone has a stake in the development of these crucial technologies," concluded Mrs. Buchanan.
