Moneyhub - Bristol

Bristol-based Moneyhub, the only South West firm to make the Fintech Power 50 is a data, intelligence, and payments company that develops certified software for Open Banking, Open Finance, and Open Data applications.

Open Banking is a secure way for consumers to give merchants or service providers access to their financial information or to authorize a payment directly from their bank account, usually via a third party. One of the main benefits of this is unification. Open Banking could allow people to manage accounts for different banks in one place.

Right now, its main application is to allow consumers to use online banking to pay merchants instead of using a payment provider such as Visa or Mastercard. In the future, it may allow also providers to overlay their proprietary banking software with external applications such as finance management or budgeting advice.

Samantha Seaton, CEO of Moneyhub says: “To have been included in a prestigious list such as this is testament to the efforts of the whole Moneyhub team, who strive every day to make a real difference to people’s finances and wellbeing.

"Our purpose is simple, to change how businesses use and view data in order to help their customers make better informed decisions and achieve greater financial outcomes. We truly believe that Open Data holds the key to greater financial wellbeing, and to be recognised as a leader within the fintech community is a fantastic achievement and serves as even greater inspiration to continue our journey.”
