Finding frontrunners in the Thames Valley FinTech cluster

The very fabric of the UKs economy is being transformed by Fintech.

The impact of some c2500 UK Fintech companies is felt not only how consumers conduct transactions but how b2b relationships form or how payments are completed.

Estimated to create thousands of jobs across the UK and second only to the United States in terms of investment in such companies, the future belongs to Fintech.

A blossoming Fintech cluster in the Thames Valley, led by but not entirely comprised of Oxford spin outs, is proof that the UKs Fintech industry is not London centric. One in three Fintech companies are based outside of the capital.

Deloitte has referred to the Thames Valley Fintech cluster as having "exciting potential."

The Business Magazine hosted, Westcoast Sponsored, Thames Valley Tech Awards is seeking the local leader.

It has certainly been an eventful year the industry, calls for a national strategy for UK Fintech, a regulatory framework best described as evolving, buy now pay later developments, implementing the reforms advocated by the Kalifa Review into financial services, and the growth of Challenger Banks.

After all that, one lucky Fintech company will crown their year with a Business Magazine, Fintech Company of the Year, Thames Valley Tech Award on 20th October.

The award is sponsored by Gresham House Ventures.

Mark Harper, Marketing Director, Gresham House Ventures said: "At Gresham House Ventures, we look to work with exceptional entrepreneurs.

"We’ve been investing in high-growth businesses for over twenty years and we specialise in scaling software and digitally-driven businesses.

"These awards give us an opportunity to connect with more great businesses. We are delighted to be sponsoring the award.

"Innovation drives change which is particularly the case in tech. We will be looking for those businesses that best demonstrate growth through the use or successful implementation of tech."

So will the Business Magazine, Fintech Company of Year emerge from the banking, lending, InsurTech, RegTech, accounting, payments, quote or WealthTech sector?

If you'd like to nominate a fintech company - or any tech organisation - for a Thames Valley Tech Award, you can do so on our website here.

The Thames Valley Tech Awards, headline sponsored by Westcoast, will be held on 20 October 2022 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium (formerly Madejski Stadium) in Reading. The event is hosted by comedian Lucy Porter, tickets are available now.
