The Oxford Trust has revealed the shortlist for its prestigious annual celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The awards, run in partnership with Venturefest Oxford and sponsored by Barclays, Marks & Clerk, Advanced Oxford and Triteq, recognise entrepreneurs and start-ups well as established science and tech businesses, and individuals making an impact on the regional economy. The awards have been running since 2005 and have previously showcased future high-growth companies such as Oxbotica, Immunocore and Adaptix.
The 2018 winners will be presented at an evening reception on Wednesday September 12 at Oxford Brookes University after Venturefest Oxford.
The keynote address will be given by Jonathan Flint, President Elect of the Institute of Physics and former CEO of Oxford Instruments, the first spin-out company from the University of Oxford. Jonathan has held managing director positions at BAE Systems, Vislink and EADS. He holds board positions with The Oxford Trust, Stadium plc, and OUI.

The Triteq Young Entrepreneur Award
Recognises young founders (under 40) of science and technology companies in Oxfordshire. The shortlist includes:
Adelie Health, which has designed PenPal to attach to an insulin pen to help diabetics track and manage insulin doses

Brill Power has designed an intelligent multi-cell battery pack which extends battery lifetime by up to 60 per cent. Last year Brill Power was selected as one of the EU-top 50 seed-stage start-ups. It showcased its technology at the European parliament in Brussels during the European Innovation Summit in November 2017.

Oxford nanoSystems develops innovative coatings to improve two-phase heat transfer surfaces. The technology uses a low temperature process which can be quickly and easily implemented in components post-manufacture to add significant value. The coatings enable the production of cheaper, lighter, and more efficient products which consume less fuel, limit environmental impact and reduce manufacturing costs.
The Barclays Award for Innovation shortlist includes:
Consultant Connect which brings together professionals in medicine, consultancy, technology, governance and health service provision to harness new technology to improve organisational efficiency, remove barriers, and improve the delivery of healthcare.

School Space, a social enterprise which has been working in Oxfordshire’s communities since 2011. It helps schools generate extra funds by hiring out their spaces to individuals, clubs, societies, and local businesses.
