An IT firm in Hampshire says it’s seen a 25% increase in cloud customers this year. Taylor Made Computer Solutions in Fareham says it’s seen a significant number of businesses come to it for help after trying to migrate to the cloud and encountering problems.

Latest figures from the Cloud Industry Forum show more than four in five UK organisations have formally adopted at least one cloud service. Taylor Made says that while the cloud offers huge benefits, moving onto it is a path that needs to be trodden carefully.

Managing director Nigel Taylor said: “Businesses large and small are in a rush to take advantage of the cloud and many are diving head-first into solutions that are being sold and promoted as the solution to all our IT issues. Unfortunately this simply isn’t true or possible and locally we’re seeing a lot of businesses coming to us for help after their migrations into the cloud have failed.

“One of the biggest challenges they face is connecting legacy systems with newer cloud-based applications. The majority of current systems, especially systems of record, are not cloud-ready.

“What businesses need to do is look at their entire IT infrastructure and strategy from a ‘bird’s eye view’ and plan their journey accordingly. Knowing what systems are cloud-ready and what systems you might need to add in future can save huge problems – and a lot of money - later down the line.”

Taylor Made has helped a large number of local businesses and organisations get their Cloud journeys back on track. Its work in rescuing companies that have encountered problems has contributed to its recently being listed as one of the top five managed service providers in the UK last month by MSPmentor501.
