Fareham-based Taylor Made Computer Solutions will be holding a special event on June 16 which will explore the roles of women in the boardroom and at Westminster.

Mims Davies, MP for Eastleigh and member of the women and equalities committee, will be the keynote speaker. She will discuss how she combines the demands of being a working mother, of working in parliament and of looking after her Hampshire constituency.

She commented: “Men certainly dominate the benches in Westminster and figures show they do in boardrooms across the UK too. The challenge is how we address that inequality and ensure women have their voices heard, both in the public and private sector.”

Other speakers will be Mark Busby, Hendy’s new car sales and group marketing director; and Aly Taylor, Taylor Made’s HR director, who will give her view on the challenges facing women in IT, a field in which just 17% of technology specialists in the UK are women, with less than one in 10 of these in leadership roles.

She commented: “The sector is missing out on valuable talent. Encouraging women to consider roles in the IT sector is something we’re incredibly passionate about at Taylor Made.”

The event will be held at the Hendy Ford Store in Eastleigh.
