Barnbrook Systems, the innovative Fareham-based manufacturing firm, is one of the finalists in the Innovation of the Year category at the prestigious British Small Business Awards. It has claimed the nomination for its trail-blazing BlueCube remote-condition monitoring technology. This comes hot on the heels of winning a six-figure contract with aerospace and defence giant Leonardo at July’s Farnborough International Airshow.
Andrew Barnett, the firm’s chief technology officer, said: “Small businesses are the engine room of the economy and often do not receive the recognition they deserve, so these awards are a welcome opportunity to give credit where credit is due.”
The 35-strong business will be up against Ace Innovation, Azoomee, Fuel 3D and KwikSweep at the inaugural awards on October 20.
Barnbrook is a designer, developer and manufacturer of electronic and electro-mechanical switching devices for aerospace, defence, maritime, rail and commercial industries worldwide. Its BlueCube and related iSense software, designed and manufactured inhouse, can track nearly any function on an asset such as a train or helicopter in real-time to make sure it keeps running efficiently.
The latest award nomination comes after Barnbrook Systems claimed titles in local and national contests, including the Solent Business Awards in 2015; the Passenger Safety title for its brake controller at the UK Rail Industry Awards in 2014; and Supplier of the Year at the Light Rail Industry Awards in 2014.
