Select Music, an independent specialist supplier and distributor of 30,000 different classical music CDs and DVDs, has benefited from its relationship with Berkshire-based SIRE Technology which has guided the selection and managed the installation of its key IT solutions.
Brian Murdoch, IT co-ordinator of Select Music, explained: "The changes in the music distribution industry in the last 10 years have meant that any IT decisions are always taken with the unsaid anxiety of whether we will even have a business in two to three years hanging over us. SIRE understood these limitations and we have developed a great relationship."
Select Music's previous experiences with IT support had not been so positive. But SIRE has managed the company's migration to Office 365, which removed the need to invest in new hardware, and has given it a number of benefits, including greater data storage capability, and improved efficiency for those members of staff who are not office based.
Murdoch indicated that SIRE also provided far more than just IT support, making useful suggestions on other aspects of the business such as improving the functionality of the warehouse system.
Russell Cook, MD at SIRE heralded Select Music as an A* customer: "They talked to us, trusted us, explained the changing context of the industry in which they are operating, and even welcomed the involvement of our apprentices."
Select Music now works with more than 50 different labels.
