Award-winning mobile app development agency Apps In The Sky has rebranded, becoming Apptaura. The rebrand includes a new logo and website, and highlights the blend of commercial and technical expertise that the business provides to its clients.

Utilising a striking colour palette and an iconic logo, the rebrand comes after the Basingstoke-based business posted record revenues for the third-successive year.

Thom Gibbons, CEO of Apptaura, announced: “We’ve been building apps round these parts for six years, but not content with riding out a global pandemic and the challenges of running a small business in lockdown; juggling childcare, work, emails, Zoom calls and learning to bake banana bread, we also rolled out an ambitious rebrand.

"Apptaura marks an exciting new direction for us. We’ve got bigger, we’ve got better and we’ve grown more confident; we want to write great code and change our world. We’re aiming for another record year and are excited to continue to scale Apptaura in 2021 and beyond.”

Based in Hampshire since it was founded in 2014, the business has created apps for a range of sectors; working with blue-chip clients, SMEs, start-ups and charities. Over the last 18 months, the team have specialised in providing apps integrated via bluetooth into third-party hardware. Coding natively for Android and iOS devices, their approach to development is characterised by collaborative work with their clients and by a constant drive to remain on the bleeding edge of technology. The Apptaura brand cements the no-nonsense approach that the business takes, with an honest client/agency dialogue forming the key touchstone to its strategy.

Tom Colvin, CTO and co-founder of the business, commented: “We originally launched as a true start-up. Two friends coding together out of our own homes, working for fun and the challenge as much as anything. Thom and I have worked together to devise the new brand and values for the company, highlighting our unique traits and retaining some of the character that each of us have brought to the team.

"Our ambition is to treat clients as we would our own friends. If someone comes to us with an idea that is commercially or technically flawed, we’d rather work with them to find a better approach instead of simply delivering to a brief. As we say on our new site, we don’t deal in bull.”

Alongside traditional mobile app development, the business has expanded its product offering to include the design, build and maintenance of progressive web apps and is positioned to take advantage of the imminent rollout of 5G connectivity across the region.
