Basingstoke-based Affini has joined forces with sister company Simoco Group to form a fully-integrated communications business called Simoco Wireless Solutions. The merger of systems integrator Affini and critical communications specialist Simoco Group under the Simoco Wireless Solutions banner was confirmed yesterday.

The two companies, which are both part of Team Telecom Group (TTG), will now combine operations as one business, offering complete wireless communications services, ranging from initial consultancy and design, through build and integration, to post-deployment maintenance, support and managed service capabilities.

Simoco’s 60-year heritage in mobile radio, which has seen the company provide and maintain mission critical networks to organisations across the world, will be matched with Affini’s expertise in delivering consultancy-led services and managing communication infrastructure at 18 of the UK’s international airports.

Simoco Wireless Solutions will be led by Mike Norfield as group CEO and Peter Burridge as chairman, with Ian Carr serving as chief operating officer.

Norfield said: “The launch of Simoco Wireless Solutions marks an exciting new chapter in our history. The concept of consult – build – operate has always been at the heart of our approach, underpinning a commitment to taking a lead from customers’ precise requirements and supporting them through their full communications lifecycle. As such, combining the expertise and experience of these highly specialised companies in a single business was the logical next step.

“With organisations around the world looking to embrace a variety of technologies in order to meet their increasingly complex communication challenges, the shared vision and expertise of both businesses will be at the forefront of existing and new offerings, including an improved managed service team capable of operating networks on behalf of our customers.”
