Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Worcestershire County Council will again host the 2024 Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards.

The announcement comes at the conclusion of National Apprenticeship Week, which again proved to be another successful week of promoting the success that apprenticeships can offer for individuals and employers.

2024 marks a special year for the Worcestershire Apprenticeships programme as it celebrates its 10th anniversary since being founded in 2014. Across those 10 years the programme has worked tirelessly to promote the apprenticeships pathway. One of the major ways this has been achieved is via the prestigious annual Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards.

Entries for the 2024 awards are now officially open, with apprentices, employers, schools, and training providers in Worcestershire able to submit their entries or nominations through the convenient online nomination process. The deadline for submissions is 19th July 2024.

The 2024 Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards will honour outstanding achievements in 10 categories over the past year:

Apprentice Awards

  • Intermediate Level Apprentice of the Year
  • Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year
  • Higher Level Apprentice of the Year
  • Degree Level Apprentice of the Year

Employer Awards

  • Micro/Small Apprenticeship Employer of the Year (< 50 employees)
  • Medium Apprenticeship Employer of the Year (50 – 249 employees)
  • Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year (> 250 employees)

Support Awards

  • School of the Year
  • Training Provider of the Year
  • Apprentice Ambassador of the Year

The culmination of the event will see the presentation of two prestigious overall awards: 'Worcestershire Apprenticeship Employer of the Year' and 'Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year'.

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Following a tremendously successful National Apprenticeship Week, I am thrilled to announce the return of the Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards for 2024. With entries now open, this presents a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the contributions of all those involved in apprenticeships, with categories catering to employers of all sizes, apprentices at various levels, and recognition for schools and training providers.

“I urge all Worcestershire apprentices, employers, training providers, schools, and apprenticeship ambassadors to submit their entries."

Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member responsible for Economy, Infrastructure, and Skills, added: "National Apprenticeship Week was a wonderful celebration of the collective efforts driving the success of apprenticeships, and I was delighted to witness such strong local support. The launch of the 2024 Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards is a fitting conclusion to the week, allowing us to continue acknowledging the remarkable individuals and organisations shaping the landscape of apprenticeships in Worcestershire."
