Southampton: KPMG boosts insolvency team
KPMG has strengthened its leading position in the personal insolvency market following the promotion of Southampton-based insolvency practitioner Wendy Wardell to director.
Wardell is now taking insolvency appointments in bankruptcy, compulsory liquidations and individual voluntary arrangements. She will continue to lead KPMG’s insolvency team of 16 personal insolvency specialists based in the city which is a key part of the firm’s national personal insolvency practice.
Wardell originally joined KPMG in 1996 and has worked on a wide range of corporate and personal appointments. Talking about the current level of personal insolvencies, she said: “Personal insolvencies increased steadily in Hampshire in 2009 with the latest statistics showing that over 1,600 people in the county declared themselves bankrupt in the space of a year. This trend looks set continue in 2010 and I am determined to ensure that KPMG maintains its dominant position in this sector.”
Richard Hill, head of restructuring at KPMG in the South, said: “The decision some 12 years ago to form separate teams to deal with personal insolvency work has enabled Wendy to concentrate on developing her knowledge of this specialist sector in the region and as a result, she is recognised as one of the best in the business.”
