Southampton: Henderson Green director hangs up his hard hat

One of the founders and directors of Southampton-based environmental engineers Henderson Green is retiring after more than four decades the industry. Rob Pratt is one of seven founders who in 1999 formed what has become one of the south’s leading construction engineering consultancies. 

In addition to having over 40 years' experience designing engineering services for complex health and laboratory buildings, Pratt is also extremely passionate about sustainable building design. He is a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) assessor, accredited professional and BREEAM 'in use' auditor, and was responsible for the first ever BREEAM healthcare assessment with the BRE. He is also a panel member of the New Forest National Park Authority's Sustainable Development Fund.

"It has been an absolute privilege to have been involved in the running and development of this great company from day one," said Pratt. "Colleagues and clients have become friends over the years and I am sad to be leaving both Henderson Green and the industry. I am extremely proud of what I have accomplished here and it is now time to start a new chapter."

Russ Pitman, Henderson Green’s managing director, said: “Rob has played a fundamental role in the growth and success of this consultancy. His sustainable expertise and industry knowledge is second to none, and he will be sorely missed. We wish him all the best as he begins his retirement."

Henderson Green works for an array of clients in the healthcare, education and commercial sectors, including: University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, Universities of Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester and Bournemouth, Solent University, States of Jersey Health & Social Services, EDF Energy and ABP Associated British Ports.
