Southampton-based accountancy firm HWB has welcomed eight new starters, including graduates and placement students, for 2023 - an increase of three compared to last year.

"As with all our annual intakes, our talented 2023 cohort will receive training and hands-on experience as they look to progress their professional journeys with us," said managing director Tracy Jenkins.

"They will work across a range of departments to gain knowledge and develop their skills.

"Their input will help our established team continue to meet the needs of our diverse and ever-expanding client base of companies, limited liability partnerships, charitable organisations and individuals."

Jack Somerton, Richard Knight, Cohan Lewis and Izzy Borisova have become new trainee accountants, while the payroll placement students are Dalbir Bhullar and Aaron Hatter.

OIivia Ridout is an accounts placement student, while Sophie Taylor joins as marketing and administration assistant.

In addition, the firm has appointed two new accounts seniors - Adrian Latoszewski and Norain Umair.

The firm said the increase in its new starters reflected the wider trend among accountants and business advisers to develop the next generation of leaders in-house rather than rely solely on senior hires from elsewhere.

HWB Chartered Accountants was founded in 1985 as Hopper Williams & Bell and is based near Southampton.

The firm provides accounting, tax and business advisory services to organisations across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset & West Sussex and beyond.
