KPMG has bolstered its management consulting and risk consulting teams in Reading with two senior staff appointments.

The firm has appointed David Walker as the head of its management consulting team in the South. Walker joins from KPMG’s team in London, where he was the chief operating officer for the management consulting business. He specialises in helping businesses to improve their operational efficiency, reduce their costs and get the most out of their systems and investments.

KPMG has also appointed Anant Modi to head up its risk consulting team in the South. Previously based in KPMG’s London office, Modi helps businesses to protect themselves against fraudsters and works with them to strengthen their systems to guard against cyber attacks. He has led numerous forensic assignments and has worked in many jurisdictions including the US, Europe and the Middle East. He advises a wide range of companies, from technology and telecoms companies to clients in the financial services and the oil and gas sectors.

Andrew Morgan, office senior partner at KPMG in the Thames Valley, said: “I am pleased to announce these appointments. David and Anant are highly experienced advisors and their knowledge will greatly benefit our clients. They will work closely with businesses in Reading and the Thames Valley to help them tackle the range of issues they’re facing, from the ongoing drive to cut costs, to protecting company information against increasingly sophisticated attacks from fraudsters.

“They will also help clients reassess the security of their supply chains in the wake of the recent horse meat scandal. After all, this is not an issue that just affects retailers: all businesses have a responsibility to understand who is in their wider supply chain and ensure they have robust risk management procedures in place.

“Businesses in Reading and the Thames Valley need to be in the best possible health to seize the opportunities that present themselves as the economy turns the corner towards recovery.”
