Nick Farmer has been appointed as interim director of care services at Poole-based Care South.

A pivotal appointment for both residents and staff at Care South’s 18 care homes across the south, Farmer brings significant expertise to the role which will further enhance the quality care delivered in the company’s residential, nursing and dementia homes.

As director of care services, Farmer will be responsible for the management of residential services and collaborating with the Care Quality Commission to ensure the company is achieving the highest standards of care. He brings valuable experience in organisational development and performance improvement to the role, having worked in a variety of senior leadership roles within both SMEs and large multi-site service sector businesses.

Following its policy of internal progression, Care South has also appointed two new managers. Dawn Palmer now manages Maiden Castle House in Dorchester, a 66-bed care home with a specialist dementia wing. She first joined Care South in 1994 and most recently managed Care South’s home care office in Crewkerne, which covers West Dorset and Somerset.

Fairlawn in Ferndown is now managed by Neil Dominy, the former Manager of Maiden Castle House.

Chief executive of Care South, Susan Willoughby, said: “These new appointments consolidate the team at Care South and we are delighted to welcome all three members of staff into their new roles. As a company, we are committed to the development of our staff and recognising individual talent in the team. Internal appointments such as these are testament to our robust training procedures and are always gratifying.”
