Forty jobs have been created by the £1.7 million transformation of an historic manor house in the New Forest National Park.

A recruitment day is being held at Burley Manor on October 8, with exciting opportunities to become part of a new team to work at the restaurant with boutique rooms.

Management roles, as well as teams of waiters, spa therapists, housekeeping, reception and bar staff are still to be appointed.

A stylish new restaurant, which is inspired by the relaxed way of life and stunning dishes of the Mediterranean, is at the heart of the Burley Manor experience and there are final opportunities to become part of the kitchen team.

Newly-appointed executive head chef James Forman is already working on menus for the restaurant which will feature superb seasonal ingredients from the New Forest and across the British Isles, crafted into vibrant, rustic dishes with the bold flavours and delicate tastes of the Mediterranean.

Managing director Michaela Lisle said: “Our vision is to capture the warmth and essence of the colourful Mediterranean landscape, lifestyle and people and blend it with this beautiful, quintessentially English manor.

“We are offering the opportunity to be part of the next chapter in the history of Burley Manor and to join our unique journey.”

General manager Matthew Gardner said: “We are looking for people who are passionate about hospitality. Our relaxed, informal approach to guests means that all of our team will need to be welcoming.

“Everyone who comes through the door for our recruitment day, needs to come with a smile! Experience is not everything – we are also looking for people with the right attitude.”

The sympathetic refurbishment of the manor is due for completion in December and the new team will be put in place by November.

Apprenticeships will also be available at Burley Manor, through partnerships with acclaimed River Cottage and Brockenhurst College. They will include opportunities for kitchen and front-of-house team members.

The recruitment day will be held at Burley Manor on October 8, from noon to 8pm.
