Castle Retirement Living has launched its flagship £50 million development, Castle View Windsor. Construction is already underway and the first off-plan reservations are being taken, with half of the first phase already reserved. The development, in the heart of Windsor’s residential area, will provide 130 homes for the over 55s, together with an additional 72-bed care home.

One of the largest and most innovative urban retirement villages in the UK, the development will have one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, ranging in size from 605 sq ft to 1,115 sq ft and set in three acres of beautifully-landscaped grounds.  Each contemporary living apartment will have its own private entrance and most will also have a large balcony. All floors will be accessible from the basement car park.

A separate dedicated care home operated by Care UK will provide 24-hour nursing and dementia care complete with generous rooms and facilities.

There will also be a coffee shop and restaurant, and further facilities in the non-smoking development will include a ground- floor reception and concierge, with on-site reception and security available round the clock.  Residents will be able to choose from a range of assisted living services as required, while pets will also be welcome in ground floor apartments.

Prices range from £330,000 to £650,000 and the units will be ready for occupation in autumn 2018.

Robin Hughes, the Windsorian who has masterminded the development and is heading up Castle Retirement Living, is using his 25 years’ experience in investment, development and care-related projects to co-ordinate all the planning, funding and development.

He said: “I grew up in Windsor, while my parents, now in their early 80s, already live in the town and want to become some of our first residents. When you develop a massive project of this scale in your own back yard there is even more pressure that everything has to be right.”
