Gentian Development Group has appointed Alex Hirst as its new retail director.

Hirst joins Gentian from Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) where he spent five years in the retail agency team. Prior to this, he worked for Lidl as a senior acquisition consultant and in the agency team of Goadsby.

Hirst has dealt with a wide range of projects throughout his career, with a more recent focus on the delivery of roadside and out-of-town retail schemes. He is a graduate of the University of the West of England and a member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Commenting on the appointment Nick Ekins, managing director, Gentian Development Group said: "With his excellent retail knowledge and regional experience, Alex is a brilliant addition to the Gentian team. He joins us to head up the acquisition of roadside retail opportunities and providing retail centres for new housing schemes across the South Coast as well as work on our existing portfolio."

Hirst added: "I'm excited to be joining the dynamic team at Gentian and looking forward to supporting the business' retail growth plans across the region."
