Plans to create a major new industrial park in Coventry and provide a multi-million-pound boost to the local economy have been submitted to the city council by developer The Wigley Group.

The Midlands-based development and construction firm aims to create a new multi-let industrial park with 24 units, ranging in size from 1,000 to 3,000 sq ft.

The facility, to be named Albion Enterprise Park, will be located on Endermere Road, at the back of the Albion Industrial Estate, which is also partly owned by The Wigley Group and fully tenanted.

The project will have a gross development value of circa ÂŁ6 million and will provide sustainable and modern industrial units with office and storage space, catering for small businesses.

Mike Vining, Land and Development Director at The Wigley Group, which is based in Stockton in Warwickshire, said: “We are really pleased to be bringing this application forward to Coventry City Council.

“Coventry is a city which has historically been rich in industry, and it is the place to be for businesses given its connectivity to key transport corridors and motorway networks.

“There is an acute demand for industrial space and – in a location like this – we expect there to be huge interest, both for re-sale and opportunities to let.”

The 1.88-acre site used to house pre-war industrial units, however these were in a poor condition and subsequently demolished, with the site now prime for redevelopment.

New plans would include a total of 72 car parking spaces which would be split equally between all 24 units.

The Wigley Group is a specialist in the industrial sector with a significant portfolio of property and landholdings.

Established in 1964, it is an ISO 45001 and 9001 certificated company active in real estate acquisition, development and construction, as well as having an asset management of portfolios for both itself and commercial partners.
