Southampton’s Highwood Group announces double partnership
Southampton South Coast property developer Highwood Group has announced a new partnership with both Octopus Real Estate and Hartford Care.
This partnership will create 137 new care home beds on the south coast, the combined total of two projects that Highwood recently received planning permission for.
The first of these projects is a new 67-bed care home on Selborne Road in Alton. Consent for the development also includes 28 retirement apartments as well as what Highwood describes as ‘’a new landscaped public open space ‘gateway’ for Alton’’.
Second is the 70-bed care home near West End village in Southampton. Highwood has already exchanged contracts on the both projects that, according to the firm, will carry BREEAM Excellent-rating and industry-leading sustainability credentials.
Development Director at Highwood, Phil Prosser, said: “We’re very excited to have agreed terms on these state-of-the-art schemes with market leading investor, Octopus Real Estate, and renowned care provider, Hartford Care.’’
“It marks the start of a strong relationship with two of the most respected investors and operators in the healthcare arena and we’re looking forward to working with them on our future pipeline projects.”
Portonus Associates, the healthcare real estate agency, managed the lease transaction on behalf of Highwood. Shoosmiths’ represented Highwood throughout the legal process; Forsters acted for Octopus Real Estate and Clarke Willmott for Hartford Care.
Chris Wishart, Care Home Origination Director at Octopus Real Estate, said: “We’re delighted to be embarking on a partnership with such a highly regarded developer as Highwood Group and established quality care provider, Hartford Care. We look forward to bringing forward these two much-needed best-in-class care facilities which will be at the forefront of quality and sustainability.”
