Rapidly-growing national oil and fuel distributor WP Group has moved its head office operation from Hythe to high-quality accommodation in the heart of the Southampton.

The company will move staff to Grosvenor House, Grosvenor Square, where it has taken 5,413 sq ft of second floor space. The company has taken a 10-year-lease at 21 per sq ft in a deal transacted by joint agents Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) and Vail Williams (VW) in a move that underlines WP Group’s commitment to Southampton as an operational headquarters.

WP Group will benefit from exceptional, modern office accommodation at Grosvenor House, which recently benefited from a seven-figure refurbishment programme by the landlord, Ameriscot Commercial.

WP Group is a leader in the supply of fuel and Mobil lubrication solutions to customers in the aviation, agricultural, automotive, motorsport, marine and commercial sectors, and for domestic and commercial heating. It is recognised among Britain’s top-tier mid-market growing businesses with inclusion in the Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250.

David Fairchild, managing director, WP Group, said: “This is a strategic move as WP Group continues to grow as a major employer in the South. The facilities at Grosvenor House provide our staff with a superb working environment and good access to the motorway and public transport. This move will be of huge benefit to existing staff, and to our ongoing recruitment.”

Andy Hodgkinson, director – office agency at LSH’s south coast office, said: “Grosvenor House is the highest quality refurbishment in the City and occupies a unique position in the Square and only a short distance from the main transport hub. It’s no surprise that we have attracted WP Group to the building.

“The landlords, Ameriscot Commercial, are experienced office investors and have paid considerable attention to the finishes. Southampton is a great place to live, work and do business. The investment in the City has been considerable and it is attracting new occupiers as a result. Suites are available in Grosvenor House from 4,391 sq ft to 23,687 sq ft.”

Nik Cox, partner – office agency at Vail Williams Solent, said: “The remaining accommodation provides the flexibility, the amenities and the quality that the modern office occupier requires, from electric charging points for cars to cycle storage and showers. All this in one of the most recognisable office buildings within Southampton Central Business District."
