Hyundai, the South Korean car manufacturer, has announced that it will relocate to Leatherhead later this year where it will take 17,000 sq ft of office space at Birchwood Building from landlord, Nuveen Real Estate.

The deal was brokered by Woking-based property consultants Vail Williams LLP on behalf of Hyundai, in conjunction with Nuveen’s agents, Cushman & Wakefield and LSH.

It will see the automotive company relocate from its existing headquarters in High Wycombe to the newly refurbished offices at The Office Park, Leatherhead, in the autumn on a 10-year lease.

Boasting several other South Korean businesses locally, including LG, Samsung and Kia Motors, Hyundai will be among good company at Birchwood Building.

Nick Tunnell, after-sales director at Hyundai, said: “We are delighted with our new premises which is ideally positioned to deliver the right cultural fit for our employees,. We were impressed with the work Vail Williams delivered, not only to source the modern, high quality building we wanted, but to complete the project from start to finish in just 40 days.”

The Grade A office space, with its stylish industrial design, will provide Hyundai with a modern, energy efficient working environment as well as 20 new electric charging points which were negotiated as part of the deal.

Steve New, partner at Vail Williams, added: “Securing this outstanding space for Hyundai’s UK headquarters has been very satisfying. Office demand in Leatherhead has increased significantly in recent years and there are a number of new opportunities coming to market in the town, making it an exciting place to locate and do business in.”

A preferred supplier to deliver the fit-out of the new premises has been appointed, with Vail Williams retained to project manage the subsequent works which are due to take place over the summer ahead of the firm’s move in the autumn.
