Specialist property adviser Vail Williams has promoted two senior property advisers to equity partner as part of its 2017 round of promotions. Russell Miller and Mike Greenwood, who are based at the firm’s offices in Portsmouth and Southampton, became equity partners on June 1.

Miller joined Vail Williams as a property development graduate in 2002. He advises on property investment disposals and acquisitions, with specific expertise in property development appraisals and expert witness work.

During the recession, he played an integral part of Vail Williams’ LPA team, working on £250 million of distressed commercial and residential properties across the UK for numerous high-street and boutique lenders.

In his time at Vail Williams, Miller negotiated the £28m sale and leaseback of the Broad Oak Complex in Portsmouth on behalf of BAE Systems, and was instrumental in identifying a £10m off-market commercial property opportunity for Poole Borough Council’s inaugural investment acquisition.

In his new role, he will take on responsibility for business development throughout the Solent area, ensuring that the firm achieves its ambitious growth plans.

Speaking of his promotion, he said: “To be asked to join the equity partnership is a great honour for me. Since joining Vail Williams some 14 years ago, I have been able to fully realise my career ambitions, and have been very lucky to work with and learn from, a great team here.”

Also promoted was Mike Greenwood, who joined the firm in 2010 from Hughes Ellard. With over 15 years’ experience, he specialises in commercial property valuation, property development, rent reviews, lease renewal negotiations, and break clause matters.

Greenwood has worked with a number of property funders and private property owners in the Solent area and, in recent years, has taken responsibility for managing key client relationships such as Metro Bank, One Savings Bank and Poole Borough Council.

Greenwood, who took on the role of regional managing partner for the Solent Region 12 months ago, commented: “The invitation to join the partnership is a great privilege and I am both delighted and extremely proud.  I am relishing this new challenge in my career and look forward to delivering on our strategy for growth.”

Managing partner Matthew Samuel-Camps added: “We are delighted to announce the promotions of Russell and Mike to equity partner. Both have worked extremely hard over the years, helping to develop and grow our business throughout the Solent region and beyond.

“We are absolutely committed to the continued development of our staff and in becoming the employer of choice by offering fantastic working environment, within a business with strong values.”

The promotions bring the total number of equity partners at Vail Williams to 12, based across its offices in the south and Midlands.
