National commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has boosted its south coast team in Southampton by appointing two surveyors.

Alex Hirst has joined the retail agency team from estate agents Goadsby. Working alongside John Butt, he will focus primarily on out-of-town and roadside retail development, acquisitions and disposals.

Hirst said he was pleased to join LSH, where he will be involved in work at Meteor Retail Park, Christchurch; the BAE site, Waterlooville; and acquisitions for Aldi.

“I’m excited to join such an active and forward-thinking agency team, demonstrated by its continued success in the EG awards,” he said.

“The retail department has lots of projects underway and in the pipeline, and I’m relishing working on them.”

Also joining LSH’s Southampton office is Ed Newman, who is about to complete an ongoing work placement with the industrial and office agency team, working alongside Adrian Whitfield and Andy Hodgkinson.

Newman is completing the third year of a correspondence course at the College of Estate Management and will now further his experience with LSH.

“Working with the market-leading teams here at LSH has given me an incredible opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job experience while completing my studies,” he said. “I’m starting my property career with the perfect company.”

Meanwhile, Sarah Capon is celebrating after successfully completing her training.

Capon, who has worked at LSH for more than three years, has been promoted to chartered surveyor after passing the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). She is now looking forward to building on her experience at the consultancy.

“I have gained invaluable experience from the south coast team and qualifying is a key milestone in my career in commercial property,” she said. “I am delighted to work with LSH as a chartered surveyor and hope this is just the start of a long and successful career.”

Graham Holland, head of office at LSH in Southampton, said:  “We are experiencing increased demand for our services so we are very pleased that we are in a position to strengthen our team.

“We are delighted that Sarah has qualified and will continue to develop her surveying skills – she has proved that she has the makings of an excellent chartered surveyor. We are also very pleased that Alex and Ed have joined us at this important time in LSH’s growth.”
