Hendy Group - number 3 in our Solent 250 list - is a contender for Large Deal of the Year in next months' Solent Deals Awards. The automotive group acquired Lifestyle in a deal funded by HSBC and advised by BDO and law firm Irwin Mitchell.
Under the leadership of CEO Paul Hendy, the Group, which has a heritage stretching back 150 years, has expanded its South Coast presence with the acquisition of Lifestyle Motor Group. Lifestyle is also a family-run business, and it brings Renault, SEAT, Subaru, Dacia, Suzuki and Isuzu to the portfolio of marques now under the Hendy umbrella.
The acquisition will eventually take Hendy further up the Solent 250 list, as turnover is now expected to top £600 million.
In fact, the deal places the company in the top 25 of dealer groups - with franchises at 25 locations across the south.
Irwin Mitchell is also a finalist in Property Law Firm of the Year in our upcoming South Coast Property Awards.
The firm's submission to judges, who met this week, stated: "Our role was to provide high-level advice on acquisition and real-estate matters. We worked seamlessly with other internal teams and external professionals to provide advice and guidance on every aspect of this large-scale multi-site deal."
The Solent 250 is sponsored by HSBC, KPMG and Irwin Mitchell.
