Reading: Datto accelerates growth with new HQ
Datto, the innovative Reading-based provider of comprehensive data backup, recovery and business continuity solutions, has announced dramatic expansion plans, including its new EMEA headquarters.
The new space will house up to 150 Datto team members in a spacious and creative environment which will include a dedicated onsite partner experience centre complete with the latest AV equipment for both partner and end-user training and events, and a fully-functioning pub, the Blue Ram, for partner hospitality.
Colin Blumenthal, a Datto partner, commented: “The new EMEA HQ in Reading is truly impressive and further demonstrates the commitment and investment Datto is making to support partner growth. We look forward to utilising the new facilities for client meetings and demonstrations, which may end up in The Blue Ram with something to celebrate.”
Andrew Stuart, managing director of Datto EMEA, added: “The new HQ is an exciting step for everyone at Datto, as we had outgrown our previous office after two years. The dedicated partner experience centre is particularly crucial to our continued expansion, and we look forward to welcoming current and future partners to experience it over the coming months.”
As part of the envisaged growth in the UK, Datto has appointed Trent Machett as UK and Ireland sales director and Chris Tate as business development director at EMEA. Machett, who brings a wealth of technical knowledge to a key role, was instrumental in channel development at security vendor Sophos. Tate has had a long history with Datto, beginning in 2011 when he was technical director of Orchid IT, one of Datto’s largest partners at the time. He went on to develop GCI’s channel strategy, and launch totallymsp.com – a resource for all things MSP in Europe.
Yet more evidence of the firm’s growth is the imminent launching of a new SIRIS 3 platform, an updated and feature-rich device management portal; an Infinite Cloud Retention pricing model; and the all new SIRIS 3 X1, an all-flash offering. Datto also announced the new SIRIS 3 Imaged service (previously GENISIS), a conversion tool that instantly turns non-Datto BDR devices and other servers into a SIRIS appliance.
On the marketing front the company has taken a unique approach to supporting MSPs in their locality by confirming that it will sponsor Ping! England, a UK-wide festival of ping-pong, where free-to-use tables will be provided for the public in 21 cities across the UK this summer. In addition, the company has embarked on its first airport billboard advertising campaign in collaboration with Datapac, Ireland's largest Datto partner.
Datto has also been expanding exponentially in Europe, opening new data centres in Iceland and Germany, and signing new distribution deals in Spain and Greece. Both distributors have been active in introducing Datto to their respective markets. The new Spanish distributor, IREO ran a successful meet and greet campaign, dubbed 'Breakfast with Datto' in five Spanish cities, while Greek distributor Premium IT attended the national event InfoCom World alongside Datto.
