Babcock International Group (Babcock), a FTSE 100 company and the UK’s leading engineering support services organisation, is expanding its presence at 1000 Lakeside North Harbour, Portsmouth. It is taking 55,000 sq ft on the first floor of this landmark location.
Between 400 and 450 staff will be relocating initially, including Babcock’s Information Services department which has the capacity to grow to over 700 personnel.
Simon Parker, chief information officer of this department, said: “Having outgrown our existing office space, we were looking for a new local base. Lakeside has great access and amenities, and allows us room for future growth. With other Babcock teams already based at Lakeside it made sense for us all to consolidate and move into a single floor of Lakeside 1000.”
Nick Turner, director of asset management at letting agent Northwood, said: “Babcock is a world leader, so we are justly proud that they have chosen 1000 Lakeside. Our location and quality of offer provides a great environment for their personnel.”
Andrew Hodgkinson, director of office agency for Lambert Smith Hampton, said: “Babcock has been a valued client of LSH for a decade. We were tasked with identifying a location for a South Coast operational hub, across a wide geography and unearthed several viable opportunities. Lakeside delivered on a number of levels and we are pleased to have negotiated a successful outcome for our client.”
Operating in the UK and overseas, Babcock delivers complex and critical support to the defence, energy, emergency services, transport and education sectors.
