Reading-based law firm BoyesTurner has made two senior appointments – a non-contentious construction specialist and a planning law consultant – to support the growth of its real estate practice, particularly its development and house building team.

Lawrence Bruce (left) has joined the firm as head of construction and Simon Dimmick (right) as a planning law consultant.

Lawrence Bruce has extensive experience of all of the major forms of building and engineering standard form contracts and has provided advice on major projects in a variety of sectors, including acting for the developers of Kings Cross and St Pancras stations.

Simon Dimmick is a leading planning lawyer, who is well known in the Thames Valley property and planning sector with many decades of experience.

He has advised major landowners, developers and local authorities on a wide variety of planning projects ranging from small scale applications to strategically important long-running development projects.

William Nassau-Lake, who leads Boyes Turner’s development & house building team, said: “Lawrence has a huge reputation in non-contentious construction acting for property developers, contractors, funders, construction professionals and joint venture partners.

"His appointment complements our well established construction disputes practice as well as providing support to the clients of our Commercial Real Estate team, particularly those undertaking building works as part of taking on new premises.

“Simon brings additional planning expertise to our team and support our work with developers, promoters and landowners. The planning system is in a state of flux, so expert support is now more crucial than ever.”

Boyes Turner’s development and house building team advises developers, promoters, land traders, landowners and funders on a range of long-term strategic acquisitions and disposals and collaboration, consortium and promotion agreements, as well as site assembly and conditional and unconditional transactions with particular focus on the housing and care sectors.

The team also offers specialist property and construction dispute resolution services and has a leading plot sales practice.
