Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has completed the sale of Eynsham Hall, one of Oxfordshire’s leading country house hotels at the gateway to the Cotswolds.

The grand building, set in 45 acres of grounds, originally dates back to the 18th century and was rebuilt in 1908. It now forms part of a business which operates 135 guest bedrooms, restaurant, bar, private dining and functions rooms, and a health club with an indoor swimming pool.

Popular for weddings and corporate events, the venue has a prime rural location, well connected to main roads and a nearby local train station with direct routes to London.

Eynsham Hall was sold by Cathedral Hotels, having been under its ownership since 2005. The new owner - believed to be Ennismore, an investment firm founded by entrepreneur Sharan Pasricha - has plans to undertake a refurbishment programme of the hotel, following approved planning permission to add 80 additional guestrooms and extended conferences facilities, plus a new spa complex.

On behalf of the joint agents, Christie & Co and Nick Sweeney, Jeremy Jones, director at Christie & Co commented: “Eynsham Hall offered a fantastic opportunity to acquire an extensive site with the benefit of planning permission to extend the site and build revenue further. We received strong levels of interest from a range of domestic and overseas operators and investors. We look forward to see how Eynsham Hall is developed.”

The property was purchased off an asking price of £8.25 million.
