The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead’s preferred joint venture partner for the Maidenhead Golf Club site is CALA Homes.

The site will deliver more than 2,000 homes, including 30% affordable, as well as a new primary and secondary school, public open space, community hub and supporting infrastructure.

Council agreed to appoint CALA Homes from a final shortlist of three developers following a competitive tendering exercise.

David Evans, cabinet member for Maidenhead regeneration and Maidenhead, said: “We are delighted that we have selected a development partner who can bring a high quality transformational development, delivering on the town’s aspiration and need for growth.

“We look forward to creating a sustainable development that can be enjoyed by both new and existing residents.”

The golf club offers a sustainable location to provide housing in the borough with excellent transport links including short walking distance to Crossrail services at Maidenhead railway station from next year and the wider town-centre amenities.

Stuart Wallace, regional managing director for CALA Homes, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as preferred partner for this unique opportunity to deliver our team’s vision for the Maidenhead Golf Course site.

“Working in partnership with the Royal Borough we look forward to creating a vibrant and sustainable legacy that meets with the council’s original objectives for the site.”

An agreement was struck in July 2016 between the Royal Borough and Maidenhead Golf Club to surrender the lease of the land. Under the agreement the club can surrender its lease between May 2019 and May 2023.

As part of CALA Homes’ appointment in the next few months, a development agreement between the company and the council will be entered into, setting out the next stages of the project.
