A family-owned bakery with a proud 100-year history has expanded to a new HQ in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire.

Mayor Dan Norris officially opened the new site, which takes Hobbs House Bakery’s head office from 20,000 to 30,000 sq ft.

Jenny Greenway, head of people and culture, explained to the mayor how this move will enable the bakery to serve even more hungry customers at its locations in Bristol and Chipping Sodbury.

She added that her team were ‘excited for the opportunities the new expansion will bring to our employees and business’.

Hobbs House Bakery offers a range of apprenticeships to local individuals and is signed up to the West of England Good Employment Charter, which supports more than 20,000 workers in the region.

The family-owned firm values its workers’ mental health, offering dedicated wellbeing support alongside group yoga and staff football – plus a unique scheme offering baby hampers to working mums and dads.

Mayor Norris said: “There’s nothing like the smell of freshly baked bread.

“I’m pleased that thanks to this revamp, more locals will get to enjoy delicious bakes and cakes of the highest quality from this much-loved, family-owned West of England firm.

“And I’m all the more pleased that Hobbs House Bakery is rising to the occasion, and understands the value of good jobs for their employees.”
