Members of Fareham-based Amiri Construction had the opportunity to meet two well-known names within F1 when they officially opened the newly-completed multi-million pound motor vehicle and engineering complex on the Sparsholt College campus in Hampshire.

Former world champion, local business owner and farmer Jody Scheckter and Ross Brawn OBE, the 'engineering brains' behind many Formula 1 world title wins, unveiled an official plaque on the landmark building designed by architects Househam Henderson.

Amiri’s managing director Grahame Pettit and project manager Mark Formaggia were introduced to the VIPs having successfully completed on time and on budget the new industry standard facilities that are the central hub for motor vehicle and engineering studies.

“It was great to meet two people who have influenced the course of F1 history,” said Pettit. “It’s fantastic that they, through their own interests in farming and agriculture, support and encourage the students at the college.”

The motor vehicle and agriculture engineering complex incorporates workshops and state-of-the-art dedicated welding and fabrication facilities, all demonstrating the highest level of sustainable environmental performance.

Fully equipped with the latest technology students are trained by experts to gain real experience for a successful career in the industry, working on a range of vehicles from everyday motorcars to specialist agriculture vehicles.
