Gloucestershire's AccXel construction skills centre re-launches ambassador programme

AccXel, the Forest of Dean construction skills accelerator centre, revealed it has re-launched its Ambassador programme, which provides apprentices with mentorship and support separately from their employer and the construction school.

Founded in 2020, Gloucestershire-based AccXel aims to inspire, train, and connect students within the building and construction industry.

The programme is now in its second year and industry leaders, who have agreed to be a part of the Ambassador Programme include the likes of Sean Brill (Edenstone Group) and Dale Fisher (Norman Bromley Partnership).

Also signed up are Anne Okafor (Robertson Construction Eastern); Ian Hamilton (Bradfords Building Supplies); Jason French (Support Connect); Craig Rooke (CTE UK); Ele George (Elevate); Andy Barham (Premier Kitchens); Sophie Perkins (Atkins); Robbie Canham (Transport for Wales); Paul Lacy (Galliford Try); and Daniel Biddle (The National Diversity Employment and Advisory Service).

In the first year of the programme, AccXel and the Ambassadors achieved excellence in all three focus areas, namely Inspire young people for their best next step - AccXel Result: 95%; prepare young people to be career-ready - AccXel Result: 91%, and collaborate for success - AccXel Result: 96%.

Managing director of AccXel Nicola Bird said: "These outstanding scores are a testament to the collective efforts of AccXel and those involved in the Ambassador programme.

"By becoming an AccXel Ambassador, companies enjoy the benefits of being affiliated with AccXel which includes participation in community and construction industry events and awards, as well as a range of other marketing benefits and opportunities."

AccXel Construction School was founded in 2020 by Nicola Bird and K W Bell Group.
In partnership with GFirst LEP, who have committed £1.96 million, AccXel aims to inspire, train, and connect students within the building and construction industry.
