Fareham-based Amiri Construction, which has a £38 million turnover, has announced the creation of new shareholders and directors in pursuance of a succession plan.  Managing director Grahame Pettit and fellow director Kevin Lendon, who started the company from nothing in 2005, see the development as a way of giving key members of their 35 staff a greater role within the business.

The new management structure adds five new shareholders. Mark Vincent, who is also appointed as a director, has for 10 years successfully steered the business development for the company.  Dave Lyster, one of the original staff since 2005 has, as pre-construction manager, developed the trust of the many clients who frequently place projects with Amiri. Andy Corry, as estimator has proved to be a skilled negotiator for the business, supported by detailed tendering. Dave Moore, another original Amiri team member, is commercial manager, running the quantity-surveying team which efficiently manages the financial aspects crucial to the success of any project.

An addition to the head office at Segensworth, Fareham, is accountant Martin Tidby.  He has worked previously with Pettit, Lendon and Vincent within other construction groups and will offer invaluable financial experience and support as the business continues its long-term growth.

Pettit said: “The changes will deliver a gradual transition of the leadership of the business to the next generation of construction experts. Key to this succession plan was the commitment of the management team to continue working with the staff, clients, consultants and supply chain partners in the same manner that has seen such a successful 12 years to date.

“This is an important, common sense, development within Amiri to give the business the greatest opportunity to thrive and succeed into the foreseeable future. I am confident that existing and future clients will benefit from the structural changes we have made to the business.”

The company is currently on site with projects valued between £1m and £10m across a range of sectors including commercial, leisure and education across Southern England.

Seated are founders Grahame Pettit and Kevin Lendon, with (standing) new shareholders: Martin Tidby, Andy Cory, Mark Vincent, Dave Moore, and Dave Lyster
