Hampshire-based Mackoy has been appointed to carry out the groundworks for 98 residential units on the Highwood Group’s North Stoneham Park development in Eastleigh – a rapidly expanding town in the south of the county.

The new contract will begin in January 2019, once Mackoy has completed its first phase of work on the project, laying the foundations for the initial 120 homes on the much-anticipated 1,100-home site. The next phase will see the Mackoy team focus on plots 119 – 177 and 297 – 335, laying the foundations, doing the blockwork, installing beam and block flooring and carrying out oversite works, including internal and external drainage, paths, patios and driveways.

The Highwood Group’s North Stoneham Park development addresses the demand in the area for new homes and, once complete, the 120-acre site will comprise apartments, two, three, four, and five-bedroom houses, as well as a community centre, primary school and retail units.

Over a third of the homes will be allocated as affordable housing. Contributing to the area’s regeneration, the Park’s significance has already been recognised locally, winning Development of the Year in the Large Residential category of the 2018 South Coast Property Awards in July.

Ashley Beckett, project director at Highwood Group, said: “The Mackoy team has done a great job on the first phase of work, delivering to a high standard and to schedule. It’s good to have an experienced team on site for the next phase, helping to bring this exciting new community a step closer to completion.”

Mike Mayock, managing director of Mackoy, said: “This is the first development we’ve worked on with the Highwood Group and it’s testament to the fantastic team we’ve got in place that we’ve been appointed to continue our work on this significant project for the town.”
