Countryside Partnerships joins forces with Citizen to provide 247 new homes for Coventry

Countryside Partnerships, the UK’s leading mixed-tenure developer, has secured final planning consents and signed an agreement with housing provider Citizen, bringing the delivery of 247 new homes for Coventry a step closer.

This deal follows Countryside Partnerships’ acquisition of the 31-acre site for £17 million in March this year.

The new development, which will be known as Pickford Gate, will deliver 247 homes, with a mix of open-market sale and affordable tenures. The deal will see Citizen own and manage the affordable home

Pickford Gate will form the first phase of the wider Eastern Green scheme, a sustainable urban extension on the western side of Coventry that received outline planning permission in 2021. The overall project encompasses a 353-acre site that will give rise to a new community comprising 2,400 homes, of which 25 per cent will be affordable housing, as well as a new primary school, district and local community centres, a transport hub and extensive open spaces and play facilities.

The local community is not only set to gain much-needed new housing but will also benefit from new transport initiatives. This includes the funding of two dedicated busways that will connect with Coventry City Council's wider bus network, as well as mobility vouchers for all plot occupiers. These excellent transport links will provide the local community with a host of social and environmental benefits, making the development an attractive and well-connected part of the Midlands.

Adam Daniels, Divisional Managing Director, Countryside Partnerships Midlands, said: “We’re proud to be working with Citizen to provide much-needed, high-quality new homes for the Coventry area. This exceptional development will provide new amenities including community centres and a new school, making Pickford Gate a place in which people can thrive as part of a flourishing new community.”

Nick Byrne, Executive Director of Development at Citizen, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Countryside Partnerships on another development in the West Midlands which will bring more affordable homes to the western side of Coventry.

“We’re looking forward to work starting on Pickford Gate and bringing new homes to this area of Coventry.”
