Council calls for input on Winchester regeneration plans

Jigsaw Consortium, trading as Partnerships & Places, which was appointed to take forward regeneration plans in Winchester earlier this year, is to hold "meet and greet" sessions with local people interested in the city's future.

Winchester City Council appointed Jigsaw Consortium in March to bring forward its Central Winchester Regeneration (CWR) project in the city centre – a four-acre area of the city with a wide-ranging mix of uses including flexible work and creative spaces, food and drink offerings, a hotel and new high-quality public spaces. The proposals also include new homes.

Jigsaw Consortium is a partnership between Genr8 Kajima Regeneration Limited (Kajima and Genr8 Developments) and PfP igloo (PfP Capital and igloo Regeneration.)

Speaking about the sessions, Leader of Winchester City Council Cllr Martin Tod said: “We deliberately chose a development partner to regenerate Central Winchester who was committed to working with the people of Winchester to make the project succeed.

“It's such an exciting opportunity to transform the rundown parts of our centre - bringing homes for local families and jobs for local people – while sensitively reflecting our city's setting and heritage.

“I really hope that anyone interested in joining in will get involved.”

Jigsaw Development Director Matt Woolgar said: “Building meaningful, sustainable communities is at the heart of what we do and the meet and greet planned for the 6th September is the first in a series which will help us to understand further the businesses, communities and residents that make Winchester so special.

“I look forward to meeting people face to face and to hearing opinions and hopes for the future of Winchester.”
