Champagne Pommery apply for Hampshire planning permission

The English arm of French winemaking group Vranken-Pommery Monopole Group, Champagne Pommery, have applied for planning permission to construct a new winemaking facility in Hampshire.

If permission is granted, the new facility will help the vintner expand its Louis Pommery England offering.

The firm currently uses the cuverie (wine-making vats) of neighbouring Hattingley Valley Wines to convert its 40 hectacres of vines on its single Hampshire plot into wine.

If successful, the new facility will allow the group to gradually scale up production at its Hampshire site, increasingly naturally in step with an increase in harvestable plots.

Julien Lonneux, chief executive officer, Vranken-Pommery UK said: “We are prudent and patient as we want to create this project in the right way.”

“We informed Winchester Council about the application and before submitting it formally, we also did a pre-planning application for which we received comments and integrated them.”
