Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has facilitated the sale of Easthampstead Park Conference Centre, situated between Bracknell and Wokingham in Berkshire, on behalf of Bracknell Forest Council.

Occupying a classic Grade II listed Victorian mansion in acres of mature woodland and gardens, Easthampstead Park Conference Centre is a popular wedding and corporate events venue with extensive guest accommodation.

The business was owned and operated by Bracknell Forest Council for some time but following a strategic review, the council concluded it was no longer financially viable to continue subsidising the venue. Christie & Co was instructed to market the property for sale.

Having been purchased by Active Hospitality, an ambitious group operator of quality businesses across Surrey and Buckinghamshire, the property will undergo a substantial refurbishment programme to allow it to capitalise on the growing commercial activity around the M4 corridor and also host a growing number of weddings and special events.

Bruce Cave, partner at Active Hospitality, commented: “Easthampstead Park Conference Centre is an important step on our journey to create a bespoke, aesthetically pleasing hotel and conference based portfolio around the M25 with a combination of multi-use facilities, including bedrooms, ballrooms, meeting and conferencing space, serviced offices, health and fitness, and multi F&B offerings, within each hotel which are targeted at both the local community, regional and national corporate business and leisure users.”

Jeremy Jones, head of brokerage – hotels at Christie & Co, commented: “Easthampstead Park presented the opportunity to acquire a property which has been in the ownership of Bracknell Forest Council for many years. The unique architecture, scale and setting of this mansion presents a wonderful opportunity for Active Hospitality to create a business which will become well known across the whole of the South East and further.”
