Basingstoke: Village Hotel opens after £25m investment

Village Hotel Basingstoke has officially opened its doors, following a £25 million investment by Village Hotel Club.

Marking the occasion, Diane Taylor, the mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, her consort, Dr Andy Taylor and Enterprise M3 director Linda Cheung joined general manager Nalin Daud to celebrate Village’s 31st hotel opening and an exciting new era for the Basing View business district.

Village Hotel Basingstoke will support the needs of local businesses and entrepreneurs with its co-working concept, VWorks, which provides a place for local people to work, connect and network.

Businesses and individuals can modern hot-desking spaces – equipped with super-fast Wi-Fi and printing facilities. Benefits include gym access and discount dining at the Pub & Grill.

VWorks is key part of Village Hotel Club’s commitment to be more than just a hotel – but rather a place for local communities and businesses to meet and connect. Alongside VWorks, the range of facilities at Village Hotel Basingstoke include 153 bedrooms, all-day dining at the Village Pub & Grill, a Starbucks, and a state-of-the-art Village Gym, boasting a swimming pool, sauna and steam room, the very latest equipment from Technogym and over 100 group classes a week. New members can make the most of joint VWorks and Gym membership packages, combining the best of the new facilities.

Cabinet member for regeneration and property at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council John Izett said:“The opening of Village Hotel is great news for Basingstoke and responds to what the growing number of businesses based at Basing View have been calling for - a modern business-class hotel with excellent additional amenities.

“I am delighted that Village Hotels has chosen to invest £20m in the borough and in the process provide 110 new permanent jobs. The new hotel will be a fantastic addition to the success story at Basing View. The opening of the new hotel is another important step in our £500m regeneration of Basing View in association with Enterprise M3.”

The launch of Village in Basingstoke forms part of Village Hotel Club’s ambitious £480m investment programme which aims to open an additional 20 new hotels in the next six years to accelerate the brand’s growth. Construction is also underway in Eastleigh, and a further three new-build properties are set to follow in Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Edgbaston.
