A new industrial development by Kier Property has been launched in Basingstoke with the support of agents Lambert Smith Hampton. The scheme will bring high-quality new warehouse and industrial space to the market.
A reception was held for agents and stakeholders at the site, to be named Logistics City, on the Houndmills Industrial Estate.
The new site, which will be developed under Kier Property’s mid-box industrial brand (Logistics City) will soon be under construction and will house three units, each with car parking and a secure yard. The ground has been cleared and prepared ready for works to begin, with units available for occupation in early 2018
Units, which are being jointly let and sold by LSH and Hollis Hockley, will be available for occupiers in early 2018.
Charles Wood, director at LSH’s Guildford office, Adrian Whitfield, industrial & logistics director for LSH on the south coast, and Nick Olliffe of Hollis Hockley are in talks with potential occupiers.
Whitfield said: “This is a speculative development that has already generated significant interest among potential occupiers and demonstrates growing confidence in the region’s economy.
“Basingstoke has a need for quality, strategically located units of this type, and we are very pleased to be working with Kier Property to launch a scheme that will help meet this need while bringing economic benefits and a significant number of jobs to the town.”
Pip Prongué, Kier Property’s managing director (south), added: “We are delighted to have completed the demolition in preparation for construction to commence at Basingstoke. Our industrial brands Trade City and Logistics City continue to operate and develop on a speculative basis and offer both leasehold and freehold solutions to occupiers. We see Basingstoke as a key location, which complements our other industrial sites in Sydenham, Watford, Reading, Oxford, Frimley, Bracknell and Thurrock.”
Logistics City is the latest addition to a part of Basingstoke that is already home to industrial units used by household names including Sainsbury’s, Fyffes, GAME and Debenhams.
On completion, the scheme will provide three units ranging from 22,604 sq ft – 49,514 sq ft.
The development is next to junctions 6 and 7 of the M3 motorway and has easy access to Basingstoke’s ring road. The closest station is Basingstoke, where trains direct to London Waterloo take 49 minutes.
