Six months after practical completion, five new industrial and warehousing units at Axis J9 Bicester Oxfordshire, and totalling over 200,000 sq ft, have been fully let to Arrival, the global company creating electric vehicles (“EVs”) and Origin, the UK’s leading specialist manufacturer of bespoke aluminium bi-folding doors and windows.

The, 200,000 sq. ft development, Phase 1 of the 550,000 sq ft Axis J9 Sceme, funded by Aver Property Partnership, (a joint venture between Ergo Real Estate and NFU Mutual), and developed by Albion Land delivers industrial and logistics space to meeting the needs of the UK’s growing logistics sector. The high-specification units plus grade A office space attracted a high calibre of potential tenants and also demonstrates strong sustainability credentials, designed to incorporate a ‘carbon zero’ specification.

The development is a mile away from the well-known designer shopping outlet Bicester Village  and three miles from Junction 9 of the M40, a location which gives the development its name, Axis J9.

Origin Global, based in High Wycombe and Arrival based in Banbury and London are both undergoing rapid expansion and have been looking for modern facilities to drive both productivity and efficiensies within their businesses.

Leigh Burnett, Asset Manager at Ergo RE said: “The successful letting of Axis J9 on long term leases reinforces our strategic decision to invest in the development of Warehouses and Logistics. Furthermore the occupation of the units by a diversity of businesses is encouraging and demonstrates these type of buildings can accommodate a range of uses and showcases the ever evolving industrial sector.”

Chris White, managing director at White Commercial Surveyors said: “The M40 Corridors strategic location between London and Birmingham will continue to see substantial economic development, bolstered by an expanding and quality labour force – particularly in Oxfordshire – a growth area. Axis Junction 9 has proved another successful development with all three phases providing quality new buildings meeting modern day demands of companies. The scheme has attracted companies providing significant employment opportunities and improving the economic prospects of this expanding and successful region”
