Warwickshire’s Allelys Heavy Haulage Ltd has seen fit to expand its fleet of heavy lift cranes with the help of a finance package from Lloyds Bank.

The family-run firm provides heavy lift and transport services to clients in the power, civil engineering, rail, electrical, automotive, and shipping industries. It often transports abnormal loads across the UK and into Europe, with a recent example being a contract to take two heavy generators from Belfast Harbour to Kilroot Power Station.

Established in 1959 and with a current workforce of more than 160 people, Allelys has seen a recent uptick in demand for its services, compounded by a resurgence in heavy industry projects since the pandemic.

Director David Allely said: “As a business, we’ve been through a period of significant growth and expansion over the past few years. In order to maintain this momentum, it’s so important that we continue to invest in and expand our fleet, and this latest round of funding from Lloyds Bank reflects this commitment.

“The Lloyds Bank team in the Midlands has been by our side as our banking partner for 60 years and their support and guidance has been invaluable. We look forward to continuing to work with them as we continue to grow.”

The company reached out to Lloyds Bank to finance the purchase of a Gottwald AK 912 pedestal crane, with an aim to strengthen its heavy lifting capabilities. This new equipment offers a lifting capacity of 1,200 tonnes and hydraulic arm length of 113 metres, becoming the highest capacity crane in Allely’s fleet.

Lloyds provided the firm with a loan, as well as overseeing conversion of the funds into euros so that the Gottwald could be imported from Poland without delays.

Dalia Ahmed, Relationship Director at Lloyds Bank, said: “Industries like civil infrastructure and transport have gone from strength-to-strength over the last couple of years, meaning businesses like Allelys, with its impressive customer base, are flourishing.

“This new investment in its heavy lifting fleet brings additional capacity to the firm at a time when they’re continuing to see exceptionally strong demand for their services.

“We look to support other haulage businesses in the region as part of our ongoing commitment to helping Britain prosper.”
