Carter Jonas has been instructed to sell Aldermaston Park, in Berkshire, including the 85,000 sq ft Portland House offices on the estate.

The 139-acre estate comprises a Grade II listed manor house that was last used as a hotel, Portland House and five listed lodge buildings all set in private parkland with a lakeside setting. A 45-acre cricket pitch and pavilion is also included in the estate.

Once part of the royal hunting estate of Windsor, Aldermaston Park was given to Sir Robert Archard in 1110 by King Henry I. The principal house, Aldermaston Manor, was built in the late 1840’s and stands on the site of an original Jacobean manor retaining many of its 17th century period features. Most recently employed as a luxury 33-suite hotel, Aldermaston Manor is set centrally within Aldermaston Park and has extensive views over the gardens and Aldermaston Lake.

The office headquarters, Portland House, was designed by acclaimed architect Tom Forsyth to showcase the possibilities of working with concrete. The North & North-West Lodges offer two Grade II listed residential properties in Aldermaston Village, while three further homes – Church Lodge, Middle Lodge, and Bridge Lodge – are also included in the estate.

Tom Forman, associate, Carter Jonas, said: “Aldermaston Park is a mixture of historically significant and architecturally innovative buildings and is a unique opportunity for one buyer. We expect to receive interest from a wide range of parties as assets of this calibre rarely come to the market.”

Aldermaston Park has strong road links with the local hubs of Reading, Newbury and Basingstoke easily accessible via the M4 and M3 motorways.
