Worcestershire Careers Hub event celebrates the county’s education success

Over 60 local schools, colleges, SEN schools and MPs attended yesterday’s inaugural Worcestershire Careers Hub celebration event.

The showcase took place at the Worcestershire County Council Chamber where attendees received keynote presentations from the Careers and Enterprise Company, Worcestershire LEP and Worcestershire County Council. The event culminated in the presentation of certificates for schools and colleges of Worcestershire whom have demonstrated progress towards their achievement of the 8 x Gatsby Benchmarks.

Some of the biggest award winners included:

Haybridge High School and Sixth Form – Achieved 8 Gatsby Benchmarks

Tenbury High Ormiston Academy – Achieved 8 Gatsby Benchmarks

Trinity High School and Sixth Form Centre – Achieved 7 Gatsby Benchmarks
Chadsgrove School – Achieved 7 Gatsby Benchmarks
Riversides School – Achieved 7 Gatsby Benchmarks.

The celebration event follows a hugely successful first year for the Worcestershire Careers Hub and their drive to support schools to achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks contained within the Government’s National Careers Strategy. This includes the recent standout achievement of the Worcestershire Skills Show 2019, which was attended by over 5,000 young people - making it the county’s largest ever careers event.

Robin Walker, Member of Parliament for Worcester, said: “It was fantastic to be able to attend the Worcestershire’s Career Hub celebratory event, emphasising how career advice can assist towards improving careers outcomes for young people. It is an area that I am extremely passionate about and I want young people to leave schools and colleges better equipped to enter the workforce.”
