Swindon packaging firm expands design team with new appointment
Bespoke corrugated packaging manufacturers GWP has expanded its design team, following the recruitment of an experienced structural designer.
Clirenda Deedie joins Design Manager Mike Poynter, alongside senior designer Steve Mann, at the company’s Cricklade based design studio. With more than 20 years in the corrugated packaging industry, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team.
David Mason, Sales Director at GWP Packaging, said: “One of the key areas of focus for us here at GWP is the award winning, technical design service that we offer. With virtually all of the packaging we manufacture being produced bespoke to the exact requirements of our customers, having a well invested, knowledgeable design team is absolutely crucial.”
He added: “We have seen exceptional growth over the last 18 months, and the success of our design service has been integral to this. As Clirenda has the perfect skill set and experience within the packaging industry, we believe she will be a key asset to both the design team and wider business moving forward.”
Clirenda said: “Having worked in the packaging industry for some time, I was aware of the reputation that GWP have for their innovative approach to design."
GWP’s design team has won numerous awards, most notably Starpack “best in show” and “green” accolades given to packaging created for the James Dyson Foundation.
Earlier this year GWP was acquired by Glasgow-based Macfarlane Group. Macfarlane themselves also place a strong emphasis on design, including a packaging “Innovation Lab” located at their Milton Keynes Regional Business Centre.
GWP employs more than 100 people at locations in Cricklade and Salisbury, designing and manufacturing a wide range of bespoke packaging products. The wider Macfarlane Group comprises more than 900 employees, with annual sales of c£225m across the UK, Europe, and US.
